What we have built
One system in a regulated domain that shows the architecture we sell, and three products we built from nothing and run ourselves, which is where the operating discipline comes from.
Deterministic compliance checking
A working system that evaluates building-permit submissions, 2D drawings and BIM models, against the digitalized National Building Code of Canada, Parts 3 and 9, with a human reviewer in the loop and full traceability from every determination back to the code provisions it relied on. Built as our response to an Innovative Solutions Canada challenge on deterministic AI-assisted compliance checking.
The architectural claim transfers directly to modernization work. A deterministic engine owns every regulated outcome. Models are confined to fact extraction and plain-language explanation. A model upgrade, swap or rollback can never change a determination.
- Every model-proposed value cites the exact source primitive it was read from and is verified before use. Hallucination becomes a machine-detected rejection.
- Unverifiable facts become "information not available" and route to a person. The system refuses rather than guesses.
- Code limits and table values live as versioned data, never in code. An amendment is a reviewable diff, and every verdict records the edition that governed it.
- Finalized evaluations carry a digital seal verified against a published key.
- Validated in a full-residency mode on self-hosted open-weight vision models: no submission data left Canadian infrastructure under our control.
Said precisely: 256 executable rules cover the machine-checkable articles of NBC Parts 3 and 9 under the current submission schema. Engine accuracy is measured on structured gold input, not on drawings. We state those numbers the same way to a buyer as we do to ourselves. An Ontario township's Chief Building Official endorsed the project and agreed to take part in testing.
Products we run
Self-funded, operated in-house: hosting, subscription delivery, support, and the bilingual, multi-tenant plumbing that goes with it. Running production systems for paying users is a different discipline from delivering a project and walking away, and it is the one a modernized system needs on day two.
- BrokerAide
- A deal workspace with an AI copilot for business brokers in the US and Canada. Guided playbooks from seller screening to closing, with deterministic engines computing every number and recorded approvals on everything that leaves the firm.
- AskLen
- A training assistant for business brokers, grounded in a licensed curriculum.
- AskProfBruce
- A subject-matter assistant built on the same retrieval and grounding stack.
Before QuarkSys
The firm's principal architect spent 2011 to 2018 at the RCMP as Principal Architect on two major programs, $100M+ combined, and has worked since 2019 as Senior Solution Architect on the modernization of the Bank of Canada's payment and settlement systems. Those are personal credentials of the principal rather than corporate past performance, and we say so. They are also the reason a small firm knows what a mission-critical program demands.
